ISSFAL Awards and Scholarships

ISSFAL makes four principal types of awards. These awards are aimed at encouraging investigators working in scientific fields of relevance to ISSFAL core interests.

Alexander Leaf Distinguished Scientist Award for Lifetime Achievement

To honor the work of Dr. Alexander Leaf and his support for ISSFAL, and to recognize and reward excellence in the areas of research relevant to ISSFAL core interests.

New Investigator Awards

Awarded by the meeting organizers, to recognize and encourage investigators who are at the start of their post-graduate careers.

Dr. Norman Salem Jr. Early Career Award

Encourages and rewards early-career investigators who have made significant contributions to the field of lipids and fatty acids within 10 years of receiving their post-graduate degree. For 2025, the prize consists of US $4,500 plus free registration to the Congress.
